Field Hunter Clinic, Hunter pace, and jumper derby - Oxford, OH

Field Hunter Clinics

This weekend is designed so that riders can come for both the clinic and pace, or choose one or the other.  This year, we’ve added the option of a jumper derby to follow the hunter pace!  If you wish to spend the night, stabling is available, and we can help you find overnight accommodations for the two-legged participants.

Clinic cost includes stirrup cup and lunch, though we ask you to bring a dish to share for lunch, just like we do when foxhunting.

For the bonfire, bring your own drinks, snacks, and a chair.

Questions about the clinic or the pace/jumper derby?  Text or call Mikaila Marcero at 513-325-8463.

Clinic only $85

CLINIC ONE: FOCUS ON JUMPING (Oxford, OH)

Saturday, August 1, 2026

At this clinic, you’ll practice safely riding in the open and over fences as part of a group.  Learn from professional trainer Sarah Oelerich and Camargo Hunt staff.

Experience a stirrup cup and a hunt-style bring-to-share lunch afterwards, and learn more about foxhunting ettiquette, attire, tack, and more from Camargo Masters, the Huntsman, and experienced members.

sChoose your group based on your jumping level and your horse’s experience level.  We have two time slots for beginner jumpers (riders or horses), and one slot for intermediate/advanced.

Riders learn more about foxhunting from Camargo masters and staff
Riders of all ages learn more about the sport of foxhunting from Camargo Masters, staff, and members.

For this clinic, “first flight” (intermediate/advanced jumpers) will include coaching over larger fences in the jump field, and during the riding out phase, we’ll practice riding as a group at a greater speed.  “Second flight” (beginner jumpers/green horses) will include coaching over smaller fences in the jump field, and during the riding out phase, we’ll have a more controlled pace.  We can also spend more time at jumps as necessary.  First flight rides in the morning, and second flight rides in the afternoon.  Lunch & presentations include all riders!

Both groups will practice a “check” – standing still in the group for a short time (while hounds take a rest; believe it or not, this is often one of the hardest skills for a hunt horse), and both will have the opportunity to practice opening and closing a gate while mounted.

“The Hayfield Hustle” pace and DERBY (Oxford, OH)

Sunday, August 2, 2026

On Sunday we will meet again at Honey Tree Stables for a beginner hunter pace in the morning. This is ideal for green horses, riders new to riding outside the ring, and kids.

It will be shorter than most hunter paces, and jumps will be on smaller side. All jumps optional for pace riders.

Hunter paces are normally ridden in pairs or in small groups of 3-4 riders.  You may come as part of an established group, or come alone and we’ll pair you up with others – fast or slow, depending on your preference.   Make new riding friends!

Ribbons for optimal time (an ideal hunt pace); and for fastest time. To win fastest time, all in the group must jump all fences.

In the afternoon, we’ll have a jumper derby.
