It is with great pleasure and excitement that we welcome Rhodri Jones-Evans as our new Huntsman beginning in August of 2022.  Rhodri is an accomplished huntsman who comes to us from the Mooreland Hunt.  His experience is deep and his accolades many.  Rhodri started working in the hunting world in 1994 after graduating from college with distinction with diplomas in Forestry and Rural Skills and Game and Fishery Management.  It did not take long for Rhodri to fall in love with his work in the hunting world before he was hired on with the Wynnstay Hunt in North Wales.  From Wynnstay he was recruited and hired by the indomitable Ben Hardaway and his son in law, Mason Lampton, as Professional Whipper-in to Huntsman Mason Lampton for the venerated Midland Hounds.  This was the post that brought Rhodri from his home in Wales to America.  Rhodri was then recruited by another well-known Master of Foxhounds, Tony Leahy, of Fox River Valley of Morgan, Ga and Massbach Hounds of Massbach, Il where he was Kennel Huntsman.  Tony and Rhodri scheduled hunting an incredible four days a week.  If the weather was good, they would hunt other days in addition to the scheduled days.  Sometimes hunting in excess of 200 days in a year.  After putting in his time with Tony, Rhodri was recruited by Leslie Rhett Crosby, current MFHA President, to be the Huntsman for the Mooreland Hunt in May of 2005.  Rhodri would spend the next 17 years with Mooreland and has served them with distinction.  In that time, he has achieved some amazing results and earned the love and respect of Joint Masters, Leslie Rhett Crosby, Dr. John Moody, Evie Mauldin and Liz St. John.  Below are a few of the accolades achieved with the Mooreland Hunt:

Rhodri is not coming to Camargo alone.  He will be arriving with his lovely girlfriend Kathleen Reed. She is a Long Run Woodford Hounds member and enjoys nothing more than riding in the hunt field to the sweet sounds of Rhodri’s hounds, long walks on the beach and travelling with Rhodri.

We are excited beyond words to welcome both Kathleen and Rhodri and look forward to you all meeting them in the very near future.
